Position Summary:
The Welfare Manager leads the Welfare and Safeguarding within centre to create a safe and healthy environment for students, Group Leaders and staff and is to the go to person for Welfare, Safeguarding and administration issues and concerns in centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students, group leaders and staff in centre
Leading, informing and inspiring a team of colleagues dedicated to students’ development and welfare
Maximising students and group leaders’ satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds their expectations
Ensuring the correct implementation and subsequent follow ups of the Welfare and Health & Safety systems under guidance from the Centre Manager and Head Office
Specific duties include:
To ensure compliance with the company’s Safeguarding, Health and Safety policies and those of the centre
To be known and approachable to all students, Group Leaders and staff for matters of Welfare, Health and Safety
To check original staff documentation
To train, induct and inspire the centre team in Welfare and Safeguarding
To take appropriate action under guidance from the Centre Manager, Head Office and/or professional bodies where issues of health, safety or welfare arise
To ensure there are systems in place which enable all students to receive appropriate advice and guidance and have a channel reporting concerns during their stay
To oversee the care and supervise of individual students (those not part of group) including the Guardian system: induction, training, implementation, monitoring, meetings, paperwork, student knowledge of their programmes and daily routines
To ensure that there is suitable supervision of students (in consultation with other managers) during activities, excursions, residences, and free time
To ensure all students' dietary, medical, religious, and cultural needs are met
To conduct staff and Group Leader meetings on Welfare, Health and Safety and Safeguarding
To assist with student arrival and departures at centre as needed and requested by
the Centre Manager
To work with the Activity Manager to ensure Risk Assessments are comprehensive and control measures are being implemented by frontline staff on activities
To support other managers and carry out other operational/campus duties as assigned or requested by the Centre Manager
To assist and accompany individual students to hospitals or clinics when needed.
To supervise individual students who are unwell, monitoring their progress in centre and providing regular updates to parents and agents.
Organisational Compliance:
The job holder will be expected to operate in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters.
Employees are required to cooperate fully with all arrangements in place related to Health and Safety which include implementation and compliance with control measures resultant from risk assessments and engagement with, and completion of, any relevant Health and Safety training.
Education Required:
Educated to Degree level or equivalent/or working towards
Valid First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
Safeguarding Level 1 and 2 (Desirable – if not in possession, Embassy Summer will provide the necessary courses upon successful selection)
Experience Required:
Experience in junior education/learning
Office/administration experience
A high degree of IT competency - Outlook & MS Office (specifically Excel)
Experience Desired:
Management experience in a summer school environment
Managing multiple departments and teams

Fluent in written and spoken English
Knowledge of any other languages is considered advantageous

Working Week:
6 days* out of 7 (1 day off per week)
All management roles are residential
* Maximum weekly hours will be detailed in the Offer Letter
Remuneration:
Our competitive Management weekly pay, inclusive of accommodation, will be based on the size of the centre and experience. We will discuss this with you at the time of your interview.
Accommodation is provided from the night before your first working day until the night of your last working day.
Embassy Summer does not cover costs for flight tickets and airport transfer to/from the accommodation.
