Embassy Summer, part of EC English, delivers international summer language programmes for young learners. Our programmes combine English language learning with cultural experiences, excursions, and recreational activities in a safe and supportive environment.

Position Summary 

The Welfare Manager is responsible for overseeing student welfare and safeguarding within the centre. The role includes managing welfare staff, supporting students’ wellbeing, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of student welfare and pastoral care. 

  • Supervise and support Welfare Officers and residential staff. 

  • Act as the main point of contact for student welfare concerns and emergencies. 

  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented and followed at all times. 

  • Monitor student wellbeing and provide appropriate support where needed. 

  • Liaise with centre management, group leaders, and external agencies when required. 

  • Maintain accurate welfare records, incident reports, and documentation. 

  • Assist with student arrivals, departures, and general centre operations.

Organisational Compliance

The job holder will be expected to operate in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters. 

Employees are required to cooperate fully with all arrangements in place related to Health and Safety which include implementation and compliance with control measures resultant from risk assessments and engagement with, and completion of, any relevant Health and Safety training. 

Education desired: 

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent/or working towards  

Experience: 

  • Experience working in student welfare, pastoral care, or a similar role. 

  • Experience managing staff or teams, preferably in a residential or educational setting. 

Skills: 

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and care. 

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Experience working in student welfare, pastoral care, or a similar role. 

  • Experience managing staff or teams, preferably in a residential or educational setting. 

Skills: 

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and care. 

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. 

Working Week: 

  • 6 days out of 7 (1 day off per week) 

  • All management roles are residential 

Staff uniform: 

All staff are required to wear the designated company uniform while on duty. Employees must ensure that the uniform is worn properly, maintained in a clean and presentable condition, and always adheres to the company’s dress code standards.
